At Milan Design Week, DZEK and Dutch designer Christien Meindertsma will unveil their distinctive collaboration. Flaxwood, an innovative and natural tile material derived from linseed oil, will take centre stage, presenting a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to linoleum within the architectural realm. The exhibition itself is designed by the esteemed Spanish architecture firm, ARQUITECTURA-G.
British company Dzek epitomizes original architectural products crafted in accordance with the principles of slow design, consistently collaborating with designers from around the globe. Each endeavour begins with a critical lens, leading to a reinterpretation of traditional crafts. Dzek’s approach involves a creative exploration of raw materials, resulting in the development of unique substances seamlessly integrated into architectural contexts.
A philosophy closely aligned with Meindertsma’s. In her designs, she examines the life cycle of raw materials and documents it (sometimes literally) in her work. In Flaxwood, both parties come together to make linoleum a more sustainable architectural material, promoting renewable and traceable products.
